Why Emerging Design Leaders?

Mags has been working with emerging leaders in design for the last 3 years as a coach and as a manager and mentor for over 20 years. 
Commons questions I’ve heard are:

• “How do I give feedback that’s not a sh*t sandwich?”

• “How do I manage someone older than me?”

• “How can I influence a client when I am at the lowest rung?”

• “Why can’t I get a seat at the table?”

• “This job was not the one I was promised”

OK, this last one is not just emerging leaders...it’s one we’ve asked ourselves a number of times in new roles. 

In response to these questions and conversations, I am running two-day in-person workshops for Emerging Design Leaders.

The next three workshops will be:

Who’s it for?

Emerging Design Leaders usually hold the titles of Lead Designers, Team leaders or UX Managers. They are doing a combination of leading the design activities in projects, managing people, working with stakeholders or clients to shape projects, and developing the maturity of their practice. It’s a lot especially when you are new to the role, having previously only focused on the work.

This workshop provides a framework for emerging leaders to be effective in their workplaces, by defining what their individual leadership looks like and creating a plan to move forward.

It is for people of all genders, not explicitly aimed at women.
